Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 4, 2026
DealSpot ("we", "us", or "our") operates a deals aggregation website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in using a social login provider (Google, Apple, or Facebook), we receive your name, email address, and profile identifier from that provider. We do not receive or store your social account password.
User-Generated Content
If you create an account, you may provide a screen name, upvote deals, save deals, and submit problem reports.
Click and Usage Data
When you click an affiliate link, we log the deal clicked and your user agent. We do not store your IP address.
Cookies
We use session cookies to keep you signed in and to protect against cross-site request forgery. We may also use cookies to remember your theme preference. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
How We Use Your Information
- Account management — to authenticate you and display your screen name.
- Affiliate link tracking — to record clicks for affiliate commission attribution.
- Site improvement — to understand how deals are discovered and used, and to improve the service.
- Moderation — to enforce our community guidelines and respond to problem reports.
Third-Party Services
We interact with the following types of third-party services:
- Social login providers (Google, Apple, Facebook) — to authenticate your account. Their privacy policies govern the data they share with us.
- Affiliate merchants (e.g., Amazon, Walmart) — when you click an affiliate link, the merchant may set their own cookies. We do not control merchant data practices.
Data Retention and Deletion
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings page. When you delete your account, your personal information (email, name, screen name) is removed. Your prior contributions (reactions) are reassigned to an anonymous placeholder so that community content remains intact, but is no longer linked to you.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including using HTTPS for all connections and restricting administrative access. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Children's Privacy
DealSpot is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate the date of the most recent revision at the top of this page. Continued use of Deal Spot after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
